An independent author uses Teable’s database and AI App Builder to turn a contact list into a custom app for her book launch.
Lilibet & Phil is an independent publishing and design house where stories, illustration, and playful ideas become things people can hold, read, and share. Behind it is Sara Newman, a UK-based author and illustrator whose creative work spans picture books, artwork, and small-batch greeting cards.
Her picture book, Snoop Hog’s Sticky School Run, follows a little hedgehog through a spectacularly messy morning in Bluebell Wood. Written for children aged three to seven, it turns an everyday journey into shared storytime, with hidden details that invite children and grown-ups to look again.

Sara’s work on Snoop Hog did not end with writing and illustration. Bringing the book to readers also meant preparing outreach and organising the contacts behind it. Sara needed a working tool for that part of the launch, alongside the creative work that made the book possible.
Sara created a contact-management app in Teable to store and organise a cleaned contact list. The app gave the launch a dedicated place for that information and an interface built around using it. Sara turned the list into a working part of the book-launch preparation.
Sara used her Teable app to organize the contact list behind a book-launch campaign of 24,000 emails. She described the outreach as “a roaring success” and credited the app with making it possible to organize the campaign alongside her creative work.
“If I had not created an app to store and organise my contact list, there is literally no way this would have happened.”

Sara used Teable’s database to store and organise the contact information behind the campaign. The custom app put an interface around that information, giving Sara a tool for working with the list as part of the launch.
For Sara, those two parts served the same job. The database held the information; the app made it available through a tool designed for the project. Sara could work on the contact-management experience and the data behind it within Teable, instead of treating them as separate software projects.
The result was a custom app with a specific purpose: helping Sara organise the contacts behind Snoop Hog’s outreach. Sara described the campaign as “a roaring success” and credited the app with making the work possible. The contact list had become part of a tool Sara used for real launch preparation.
The practical sequence is straightforward: organise the contacts in the database, build an app around that information, and use the app to prepare the outreach. Sara’s experience shows where the value comes from—turning a list into a tool she can use for a real project.
Sara used AI App Builder to build and refine the app through conversation. She brought the requirements of the contact-management task; AI helped turn those requirements into a working interface. The result was a contact-management app for the launch. Teable provides the app hosting, so there is no separate server setup to manage.
Sara’s app-building process included iteration. Teable gave Sara a way to return to the interface and refine it through conversation, with the database continuing to provide the information behind the tool. Building the first version and improving it were parts of the same project.
For a basic contact-management app built from an already-prepared list, an illustrative setup estimate is around 2–3 hours: organise the data in Teable, build the interface with AI, and test the result. This is a planning estimate, not a measured result from Sara’s project. It covers app setup, excluding contact collection, permission checks, email writing and sending.
That put Sara in a position to shape the software around the work of promoting a book. Sara did not have to settle for storing a contact list and stopping there: the list became the basis for an app built for the launch. AI app building connected a practical publishing need to a tool Sara could put to use.
Creating a contact-management tool involves more than choosing somewhere to keep a list. A separate-tool approach could mean selecting a database, configuring an app interface, connecting the two, and checking that they work together. A ready-made contact-management product offers another route, although its design may not match a creator’s particular project.
Teable combines the database and AI app building in the same environment. Sara used that combination to create a tool around the book-launch work, with conversation providing a way to build and refine the interface. The benefit was a practical route from a contact list to a usable application.
Sara used the app to organise the contact list behind a campaign involving 24,000 emails, while continuing the creative work around Snoop Hog. In Sara’s words, the campaign would not have happened without the app. Teable gave her a working tool for an outreach effort she described as “a roaring success.”
For other independent authors and small publishers, Sara’s experience offers a clear starting point. Identify the information a launch depends on, build a tool around the job that information needs to support, and refine it around the way the project works. Sara’s contact-management app shows how Teable can turn that approach into a working part of bringing a book to readers.
